THE
CATHARE CASTLES
Lastours is only a 20 minutes drive away from Fontiers and has been known as the "lock" of the Cabardès since the Middle Age. It gathers 4 ruined castles within breath-taking wild landscapes at the summit of a rock peak 300 meters above the valley. The visit consists of a pleasant mountain walk on a well-maintained path, lasting about 1hr30mins.
We highly recommend you also visit the castles of Quéribus and Peyrepertuse or Arques in the Haute Vallée.
Not to forget the Saissac castle, remains of catharisme in the heart of the Montagne Noire, situated on a crest before an exceptional landscape ending with the Pyrénées.
